The Inpatient Medical Detoxification Unit is a 15-bed general medicine unit that provides multidisciplinary care for patients experiencing acute opioid and/or alcohol withdrawal, or alcohol intoxication as their primary diagnosis. Medical detoxification is the safe management of the acute physical symptoms associated with stopping drug and/or alcohol use. Our healthcare team works closely with patients to stabilize withdrawal symptoms while addressing any other acute medical needs.
While detoxification alone does not treat substance use disorder, it is often a critical first step in the recovery process. Once medically stabilized, patients are connected to ongoing treatment and support services to continue their recovery journey.
Comprehensive Care and Recovery Support
The Medical Detoxification Unit is jointly managed by New Vision and Family Guidance Centers, providing patients with comprehensive care, recovery support, and discharge planning services.
The unit is staffed by:
- Medical professionals
- Care coordinators
- Peer Recovery Support Specialists
In addition to medical management, patients have access to group sessions and recovery-focused programming during their stay.
Continuity of Care
Recovery does not end at discharge. Patients are directly connected to the most appropriate next level of care, including:
- Outpatient treatment programs
- Residential treatment programs
- Recovery support services
Our team works to ensure a seamless transition to ongoing treatment and support.
